Industrial Cleaning Services
What Is Industrial Cleaning?
Industrial cleaning addresses the heavy buildup, bonded residue and difficult working conditions that ordinary janitorial cleaning is not designed to handle. It may involve specialized equipment and cleaning methods selected for the contaminant, surface, surrounding environment and operational requirements.
Interstate Blasting provides project-based industrial cleaning for machinery, production areas, structural surfaces and other areas of industrial and commercial facilities. Depending on the project, the recommended method may include dry ice blasting, industrial pressure washing, media blasting, laser cleaning or a coordinated combination of services.
Industrial cleaning may be used to:
- Remove grease, oil, dust, carbon and production residue
- Reach equipment surfaces and structural areas missed during routine cleaning
- Prepare equipment for inspection, repair or maintenance
- Support planned shutdowns and facility improvement projects
- Clean surfaces before painting or coating application
- Address recurring buildup in high-traffic industrial environments
The cleaning plan is based on what needs to be removed, what lies underneath it and how the work must fit around the facility’s operations.
Problems Professional Industrial Cleaning Can Address
Grease and Oil Buildup
Grease and oil can collect on equipment, floors, supports and surrounding surfaces. The cleaning method must remove the residue without creating unnecessary risk for nearby components or operations.
Recurring Facility Buildup
When contaminants are repeatedly tracked or redistributed through a facility, cleaning only the most visible area may not solve the problem. A broader cleaning plan can address contributing surfaces and accumulation zones.
Production Residue
Manufacturing processes can leave adhesives, carbon, coatings, dust and other bonded material behind. Specialized cleaning reaches beyond the results typically possible with routine wiping or light washing.
Dust and Airborne Debris
Dust often settles on beams, ledges, machinery and overhead structures before being redistributed through traffic or air movement. Periodic deep cleaning can help address these overlooked accumulation points.
Hard-to-Reach Contamination
Equipment undersides, structural components, corners and elevated surfaces can be difficult to clean with ordinary tools. Mobile industrial equipment allows the cleaning approach to be adapted to the work area.
Surfaces That Are Not Ready for Maintenance
Contamination can interfere with inspection, repairs, painting and other maintenance work. Cleaning the surface first gives maintenance teams better access to the actual condition of the equipment or substrate.
Industrial Cleaning Applications
Interstate Blasting provides mobile cleaning for equipment, production environments and facility surfaces. Before work begins, we consider the contaminant, substrate, drainage, ventilation, electrical components, nearby operations and access limitations.
Rather than using the same technique throughout an entire facility, the cleaning method can be adjusted for different surfaces and operating conditions.
- Machinery, equipment frames, guards, bases and accessible components can be cleaned to remove production residue, grease and accumulated buildup.
- Floors, walls, ceilings, beams, ledges, platforms and other facility surfaces can be addressed as part of a planned deep-cleaning project.
- Production and material-handling areas can be cleaned during scheduled maintenance periods, shutdowns or phased facility projects.
- Surfaces can be cleaned before inspections, repairs, coating application, equipment installation or other maintenance work.

Our Industrial Cleaning Process
Evaluate the Buildup and Work Area
We review what needs to be removed, the underlying surface, nearby equipment, access, drainage, ventilation and operational constraints. This evaluation helps define the scope and determine which cleaning method is appropriate.
Prepare the Area and Perform the Cleaning
The work area is coordinated with the facility and controlled as required for the selected process. Our team then uses the planned equipment and cleaning method to address the identified surfaces and contaminants.
Review the Cleaned Areas
After cleaning, the completed areas are reviewed against the agreed project scope. Any project-specific closeout steps are completed before the work area is returned to the facility.
Cleaning a Manufacturing Area During a Planned Shutdown
A Wisconsin manufacturer is preparing for scheduled equipment maintenance but has years of accumulated grease, dust and production residue around several machines. Buildup is present on the equipment frames, nearby flooring, utility lines and overhead structural surfaces.
Before the shutdown, Interstate Blasting reviews the work area and identifies which surfaces can tolerate water and which require a dry cleaning method. The project is divided into zones so the appropriate process can be used in each area.
Dry ice blasting is used on selected equipment surfaces where introducing water or abrasive media would be undesirable. Industrial pressure washing is used on compatible floors and surrounding facility surfaces. Overhead dust and residue are addressed to reduce the chance of cleaned areas being contaminated again from above.
Once cleaning is complete, the facility’s maintenance team has clearer access to the equipment and surrounding surfaces for inspection and planned work.
This is a representative scenario provided to demonstrate how an industrial cleaning project may be planned. Actual methods, scheduling and results depend on the contaminant, equipment, facility and project requirements.
